She Loves Her Baby

This is my friend, Missy, and her 10 month old baby, Emma. I love the pictures where she's kissing her baby so I wanted to capture the moment for her.
Watercolor 5 x 7 140 lb cold press.

Orchid

"Orchid"6x6 watercolor
I am currently visiting in Southern California partly business but mostly pleasure - the pleasure of being warm, surrounded by food I enjoy and of course friends and family.

I had the opportunity to paint a quick commission for a business which I was pleased to do on my trip. Here is the painting framed and ready for delivery! I think it will be a nice addition to their intimate lobby. It's a business by two sisters. One makes silk orchid arrangements and the other has an orchid nursery.

Happy Easter to our Daily Watercolors artists and readers!

Golden Persian Kitten

I can't stand to paint ACEO size all the time. I have to just do it once in awhile. When I do, it's difficult to choose a subject, unless it's individual flowers. I do find that cat portraits make a pretty good ACEO subject, though. And they're fun. This one is a Golden Persian, one of my childhood pets. Her name was Frisky. Pretty original name.

Unusual technique using watercolors & twinkling H2O colors.

Well... this one was FUN!!!!
I've used the technique before, about 8 or 9 years ago, on a larger work. I've been going to do it on ACEOs but haven't seemed to get around to it. I was recently reminded of it in a current magazine, so decided to do one, and 'hit' on the idea of doing an octopus.

The auction is 3 days only.

MUST see to appreciate.
The listing had WIP photos of the process.
This shimmers with iridescent colors!

The Japanese Lady

I never thought that preparing a show could be like having a nap, but neither thought it was so stressful I made this one to relax the mind. It helped!

Alfa Romeo

13 x 10 inches.
Watercolor on Favini 180lbs paper.

Alfa Romeo C6 2500 Pininfarina Design, this car is a real museum piece, I took a photo of it in an ancient place of my town and you can see the reflections of trees and of an ancient church on the hood.
It's been a big work to render with watercolor the entire scene, but I enjoed the result very much.

Sistahs and their Fiestas DSDF 23-24

"Coffee Clutch" 9x12 watercolor
It was hard for me to take this challenge too seriously for some reason lol I wanted to title this "Sistahs and their Fiestas". I love the word "sistahs" so I decided to use Fiestaware to rhyme the word with hahaha! Actually my original concept was a full sheet watercolor on Yupo but I just couldn't get my supplies together on time and the 8x10 study I did for it fizzled within 15 minutes (too small).

So here is my contribution to DSDF week 23-24 challenge with Karin Jurick! One can only imagine what these sistahs from different muthas were are ranting about.

"Cupcake"

Just a very simple watercolor and ink ACEO (2.5x3.5")

Just listed.

"CupCake"

A whimsical artwork, watercolor & ink that I did a while back. I've used it as the basis for a tiny graphic available on networking sites, and also on Cafe Press where I've put it onto bibs, onesies, together with the lettering. A fun work. I thought it was cute. Hope you do, too.

Baby portrait....Hayley

I painted this yesterday as a demo while I sat at an art "show" (emphasis on show, not many were buying). It's my now 13 year old daughter when she was about 7/8 months. This painting is why I love watercolor so much. It looks fresh and loose even when carefully controlled. It's about 7 x 5 inches.

Old, sold watercolors now new journal covers.

I have a lot of scans of my old, sold ACEOs and other watercolors, and love using them for other purposes. I've shown before how I created magnets from them. Now I've been even more creative, putting them on the front of journals, with other design elements.

Hope you'll take a look in the "WHAT'S NEW" section of my Cafe Press store:

The Laughing Dolls

5.5 x 7.5 inches, watercolor and gouache, 2009.

The theme for the challenge in the WNW watercolour group this month is "still life". So I decided to paint some of the dolls I have knocking around, something I've been meaning to do for a while. The baby doll was one I found when out walking the dog, many years ago - she has no arms or legs and her eyes are a bit wonky, so that endeared her to me. The middle one is a "Jem" doll - bought for me by a friend back in the 80's, she was a "Pop Star" doll - her ear-rings light up and flash. The final one is something I found when clearing my Nan's house after she passed away. It was going to be thrown out so I saved it, hideous though it is. It looks sort of Chinese, but where it came from and why is a mystery. They all look so happy and jolly, like they are sharing a joke!

Fuchsia: Fancy Frills

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290295321234

ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING
SFA - small format art
"Fuchsia - Fancy Frills"

by Jillian Crider
on heavy archival watercolor paper.

image size 5.5" x 6"

The painting is extended onto the mat. The mat is
part of the painting.

matted size 11" x 11.5"

"This artwork is from 1993 when I created a series of fuchsia paintings for a calendar (never published), and subsequently for an exhibition.
This painting remains from that time, it was never sold, just packed away.
Personally I love this work, I love fuchsias, and this is just too lovely to be stored away and not seen.
Fuchsias are such 'happy' plants - so colorful and festive, and, in turn, this painting is a 'feel good' painting.
I'm hoping someone will give it a good home. Thank you."
