Lavender Field

This is my impression of a French lavender field on a cool, misty morning.  I've been meaning to try painting a lavender landscape for a long time. Floral Watercolor Painting

I've been experimenting with Yupo watercolor paper. It's so different, and so slippery. I'm discovering I can't erase on Yupo, or it leaves areas that resists paint. Pansies

Pansies from my garden. They are such lovely, hardy little plants, and add colour to the garden all year round.

The tulips in the garden have been gorgeous this year. This is an example of one, soaking up the sun.

A beautiful red amaryllis flower. I look forward to this plant flowering every year, like an old friend coming to visit.

Peruvian Lily (Alstroemeria)

The delicate structure and pink and yellow shades of this alstromeria were a challenge to paint. We have these in several colours in the garden, a legacy from my father.

Pink Rose

I'm not sure what sort of rose this is, just that it's pink and beautiful!

Asian Lily

We grew these asian lilies a couple of years ago, lovely elegant plants with beautiful pale orange blooms.

Cactus Dahlia

I have a couple of these cactus dahlia plants - I love the spiky blooms, and the plants usually flower abundently. I chose to concentrate on a single flower for this painting to emphasise the petal shapes and colours.
