Cactus Shot

Cactus Shot, 8 x 8
When Erika left California for Arkansas, she bequeathed me many beautiful plants. A cactus, which is now in bloom is one of them. These are two blossoms that fell off the plant and landed in a shot glass.

Peruvian Lily (Alstroemeria)

6.5 x 7 inches, watercolour, 2009.

The delicate structure and pink and yellow shades of this alstromeria were a challenge to paint. We have these in several colours in the garden, a legacy from my father.

COFFEE CUP

This is a part of a series of Coffee Cups that I painted for fun. Coffee cups are great subjects because you can go crazy with the colors. It's better, sometimes, after I make my initial drawing, if I just throw the reference material out the window, and concentrate on colors.

Yellow and Red Tomatoes

Yellow and Red Tomatoes, 8 x 8
We had a great harvest of yellow and red tomatoes this year, I wish I had had time to paint more of them. These are among the last of the crop.
