7 little tiny dollhouse miniature watercolors

I just did these 7 little dollhouse scale 1:12 miniatures (watercolor paintings). Each is 2" x 1.5". This is "On Golden Pond" - an amazing 'capture' in a nearby area, Southern Oregon. I've listed them here (click). Please take a look before the auctions end. Thank you for looking. ~Jillian http://www.JillianCrider.com

5x7" "The Pirate Rogue" watercolor

I fell in love with Renaissance Fairs in 1998 when I went to my first in Atlanta, Georgia. It also wet my appetite for other events.

This is from 2011. "The Pirate Rogue" - watercolor painting from Rogue Renaissance Faire.
5x7" The costume is wonderful in its detail - a great mix of colors and textures. But how costumes like this get worn on such hot days, I will never know.

The Tea Merchants Celtic Band sketches

"The Tea Merchants" band were playing tonight at Central
Market, in Austin, Texas. The top one is after the sun went
down and there wasn't enough light to add color. Little
children were dancing all around to their lively tunes.
A lovely way to spend a summer evening.

Lavender Field

This is my impression of a French lavender field on a cool, misty morning.  I've been meaning to try painting a lavender landscape for a long time. This is my first one, and it was so much fun I think I'll try again! Please visit my watercolor blog if you have time, and Thank You for looking!  http://paintinginwatercolor.blogspot.com/

Floral Watercolor Painting

I've been experimenting with Yupo watercolor paper. It's so different, and so slippery. I'm discovering I can't erase on Yupo, or it leaves areas that resists paint. I'm not sure whether I love it or hate it yet! If you'd like to see more, please visit my blog at http://paintinginwatercolor.blogspot.com

"Fall Inn" watercolor ACEO.

Just listed on eBay - "Fall Inn" watercolor ACEO 2.5x3.5"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290676346070

I love the blue with the orange, and the wonderful build-up of fall leaves. This is an historic hotel (Inn) in Prospect, Oregon, all decked out in its season's colors. The hotel is over 120 year old and even had presidents and other notable people stay there.

It's one of my favorite photo-taking areas in Southern Oregon.

What is that cat hatching?

"What is that cat hatching?" Watercolor and ink, 5x7, on 140# cold press paper. Genre: fantasy.
Wanted to do some hatching--with pen and ink, that is. This is for Daily Paintworks "Picasso It" challenge, where you do something similar to a famous artist's style. Inspired by the art of Maurice Sendak and Arthur Rackham, with a teensy bit of Dr. Seuss thrown in.

Vintage Crockery

This is a small crockery study that I did earlier this year. I am endlessly fascinated by how some colors are so complimentary to others. Like this combination --- green and burnt sienna. I am attracted to this combination over and over. Maybe in 100 years I will come to understand why some colors compliment each other. Anyway, this one was fun!

5x7" watercolor painting "Western Window Dressing"

Just listed: 5x7" watercolor "Western Window Dressing".

Love this window box flower display. It's in a working mill - historic Butte Creek Mill in Eagle Point, Oregon. Personally, because of the weathered wood, and my treatment of it, I consider this "highly detailed"!

I'll include the frame if you mention this blog. The frame is professionally made. Priced WAY below gallery price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290634571873

Pink Flowers in Terra Cotta

I love pink flowers so much, I have to paint them very often. They immediately perk me up and inspire me to paint more. This was a quick sketch I did while listening to one of the wonderfully helpful podcasts on Artists Helping Artists. All artists should check out that site!

Saturday Cafe

"Saturday Cafe" 5x7 inches, watercolor and ink on 140# coldpress paper.
This is from the Daily Paintworks "Crowd Challenge." I wanted to see how much I could change things around from the photo, so I made some of the figures into cats and birds, and then added other figures from my imagination.

Miniature watercolor: Old Steam Train

This watercolor is 3.25 x 1.35". I photo'd it with USA 1 cent coin, for size comparison.
"Fading Past 0702" - From what I understand, this train no longer runs through Dillsboro, NC. So it's a glimpse of our fading past.
This painting is on it's way to a miniature exhibition in Pennsylvania.
Seems so funny at times how art traverses the world. From conception in NC, to birth in OR, now to PA, and who knows from there. Probably back to OR, unless sold - which would delight me no end. I never know what is better - win an award, or sell your work. Both are an awesome acknowledgement to an artist.

Holy Leaf!

"Holy Leaf" 6x6 inches, watercolor and  india ink on 140 lb cp paper. Saw this leaf full of holes, just had to paint it. Don't you think it's the ideal leaf for a leaf peeper?

Tree study # 2, same photo

Same photo, different values in the painting. I put these side by side so you could see how it's the same tree casting the interesting shadows, but with the foliage and the background treated differently. Below is the photo I took at Lakewood Park. If you squint at the photo, you can see how the tree, foliage, river, and river bank all disappear into the same value. In order to make a painting of it, I had to re-arrange the values in the photo. This I learned from Johannes Vloothuis. Don't take a photo at face value!
