sketch on heavy cartridge paper, 11 x 13 inches, watercolor, 2008.
Regular visitors to the blog will now I recently painted an ACEO titled "The Judas Kiss". The buyer of that painting commissioned me to do a full size version, opening the scene out to include more of the figures and roman soldiers. So this is the rough sketch I did for the composition and colour design. I've got to make some changes for the client in the finished painting (the soldiers will be holding swords and torches) but it's the biggest painting I've done for a long time, and the most complex, so it's a fun challenge!!

This has got a lot of good energy. There is somehting to be said for looseness in painting. I like your tight stuff too, I like it all.
