Wild Rose in China Pitcher

I do love those fat cabbage roses they are hybridizing now, but I have to admit my favorite rose is still the old fashioned wild rose - a single variety. They just look more nostalgic and old-fashioned to me. And they come in such soft, lovely colors. I love the way they crawl lazily over old fences. They are a perfect subject for watercolorists!

This is beautiful. I love how the dark background makes the rose and vase jump out at you.

Thank you so much, Maddyrose! For a long time I resisted using dark backgrounds, cause they're so easy to Mess Up! But they sure do work, so I finally had to accept them and try to work with them! I'm glad you like this one!

Thank you, Irina! I like things a little bit off-center and tightly cropped. I think I could have cropped this more, probably.
