The Cross

My church asked me to paint an abstract cross with this color scheme. I didn't paint this in one day - but I painted daily on it for a week and half!

It measures 5 feet by 3.5 feet. It's watercolor painted on stretched Fredrix Watercolor canvas and finished with a spray matte varnish - which doesn't show at all, but seals the color onto the canvas.

Here it is hanging up.

If you'd like to see a slide show showing the progress of the painting... you can click here.

Wow, that's really impressive!

Looks like a combination of watercolor and oil painting in effect.

How do you like working on watercolor canvas?

Thanks everyone!

I personally LOVE painting on the watercolor canvas. But it takes some technique learning and it's a challenge to keep the "watercolor" look!

This is Fredrix, but I want to try the new "YES" canvas for watermedia and compare!

Maybe I'll do a post soon with "canvas" tips that I've learned!
