Chocolate Lab Puppy

This is Mojave (isn't that a cool name??). He belongs to a friend and he's still a puppy. I haven't seen him in person but I'll bet he's huge.  8.5 x 11

Red Orchid

6.8 x 10 inches, watercolor, 2011.

I was itching to do some painting today after spending the last couple of days on pen and marker illustrations. I went to the gardens at RHS Wisley last weekend. They have a wonderful glasshouse there, and I took lots of photos of the gorgeous orchids they have on display. One of them provided the subject for this painting of these beautiful red flowers against a turquoise background.

Original watercolor ACEO 2.5x3.5" yellow house ...

I'm trying to keep at least one ACEO listed at all times. I missed today by about 10 minutes or so, I think.

But here's my latest (not counting my Ace of Spades - not yet listed). Still in the 'series' of houses/porches...

Sleeping Cat art for Help Japan Challenge DPW

"Dreaming Sweet Dreams" 9x12 inches plus white borders watercolor on paper

This is my painting specifically inspired by the Daily Paintworks's "Help Japan Challenge" Keiko Tanabe's challenge was paint the first thought that comes to you with the theme "home".

I live in Arkansas, but home to me is California. My generic reaction to the word "home" is that it's a place where I can be comfortable to do as I please. Home is sanctuary which is something taken away from thousands of people when the earthquakes and tsunamis hit Japan. When I saw those videos, I wondered how those poor people could convince themselves the world was not ending before their eyes. To most of them, it still must feel as if their world has ended. But they are alive and have to continue to survive and hopefully they will see life blossom again soon despite their loss. This is such a small effort on my part to help them out. But together we can make a difference to one or more people. I have chosen to send all proceeds to American Red Cross. Please click HERE to see my art and other artwork that you might find special enough to bid on and hopefully add to your collection. Thanks so much - Erika

ZIPpo

This is for the Daily PaintWorks Challenge

It's metal, I couldn't resist.

Very limited palette - burnt sienna, ultramarine blue

and titanium white.

I don't use white with my watercolors so the paper did that job.

Had fun and Thanks to Theresa Bayer for bringing this Challenge to light!

Jack

8 x 9 inches, watercolor, 2011.

Commission.

A portrait of a young boy, Jack, He is the brother of the little girl I painted last year, Elsie. He is a big Star Wars fan, so I was asked to put him in a Jedi costume with an outer space background! I must admit he was tricky to get right but I got there in the end :)

Asian Lillies

Asian Lillies, 14 x 18.8 inches, watercolor.

A painting from a couple of years ago.

Kathy

7.8 x 10 inches, watercolor, 2010.

I was invited by the lovely and talented Kathy Jurek to team up for my second entry in this year's EBSQ Portrait Swap.
You can see Kathy's work (including her portrait of me) here and on her blog.

EBSQArt Annual Portrait Swap

This is my painting of Mark Satchwill for the EBSQArt.com annual portrait swap.

Sunflowers

I've been on this sunflower kick for a year or so now. Just can't get enough of them. I have so much fun mixing the yellows and especially using the beautiful new Quin Gold. What a perfect opportunity to use two of the most complimentary colors - greyed green and terra cotta. Yummy combination. If you're a watercolorist, be good to yourself - get a tube of Winsor & Newton Quin Gold. It's like a present to yourself.

Please visit my blog when you have a minute: http://paintinginwatercolor.blogspot.com

Harry

This is a painting of my nephew, Harry, playing in the leaves last year. He was 4 at the time and this is in Massachusetts where he lives. He's a character!

Amanda

8 x 10 inches, watercolor, 2010.

A portrait of artist and fellow EBSQ'er Amanda Makepeace. Amanda and I have paired up for this year's EBSQ Portrait Swap, and this is my portrait of her.

Watercolor Images made into Pendants

These watercolor paintings are just under one inch square. They are secured under a glass tile, then wire wrapped with some cool beads to create a beautiful pendant necklace.
