Tail of the Mercat

Mer-things are a very popular subject on eBay. I've sold more mermaids than just about anything there, be they in watercolor or clay. This one is an ACEO, watercolor and gouache. Another limited palette: thalo turquoise, alizarin crimson, and cadmium orange for the most part, with touches of yellow ochre and cadmium red light. And of course black ink.

The Key to the Kitty

"The Key to the Kitty" ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, ink and watercolor with some gouache. Limited palette of 5 colors plus black and white. Done from a clay model that I sculpted. This ACEO is a study for a larger painting that I plan to do. I plan to do several more paintings using this clay model.

Commission - The Judas Kiss

This is the full finished painting of "The Judas Kiss". It was originally a small ACEO - the client that bought it requested I paint a full size version, adding Roman soldiers with torches and swords. (Type "Judas Kiss" in the search at the top of the page and you can see the original and the rough sketch I posted last week). It's the largest and most complex piece I've done for quite a while but it was fun and the client is happy!
