Another painting of some produce grown at home. I love chillis and spicy foods, and this year grew a variety of chillies of diferent strengths in the greenhouse - these are quite mild but still pack a nice warm punch.
The Good Witch and the Naughty Cat - ACEO - 2,5 x 3,5 inches
This one was made after an attempt to follow an Anime lesson in a new book I've bought. I don't love all kind of anime, but find that it's a very good way to learn to draw the faces expressions, I hope to go give some more try.
ACEO 3,5 x 2,5 inches Watercolor on Arches 140lbs paper, painted with Artist Winsor & Newton paints.
Watercolor of one of my son toys. They're growing and don't play anymore with them, before beeing dismiss in a box in our garage, I want to give a last chance of glory, in hope that one day someone will ask to play again.
When Erika left California for Arkansas, she bequeathed me many beautiful plants. A cactus, which is now in bloom is one of them. These are two blossoms that fell off the plant and landed in a shot glass.
The delicate structure and pink and yellow shades of this alstromeria were a challenge to paint. We have these in several colours in the garden, a legacy from my father.
This is a part of a series of Coffee Cups that I painted for fun. Coffee cups are great subjects because you can go crazy with the colors. It's better, sometimes, after I make my initial drawing, if I just throw the reference material out the window, and concentrate on colors.
I have a couple of these cactus dahlia plants - I love the spiky blooms, and the plants usually flower abundently. I chose to concentrate on a single flower for this painting to emphasise the petal shapes and colours.
Foxgloves from the garden this summer. Foxgloves (digitalis pupurea) are very poisonous, from the roots and leaves to the flowers and seeds but the toxin is also used for medicinal purposes, especially treating heart conditions.
I haven't done prints of my ACEOs before, and have now printed in limited editions as giclees. RARE as I probably won't do this again. Check them out! I'll be adding more tomorrow.
First time I've done a larger watercolor in several years. My inspiration is two wonderful women who constantly are part of dress-up re-enactments of the old west in a nearby historic town. This was at a special event, where they guarded the 'wash house'.
So is from photo studies I took. It's about 14" x 22". I'm thinking of possibly entering some competitions with it. I just got downsized from my job (the 5th downsize in 20 months :( ).
