Savoy Cabbage

11 x 8 inches, watercolor, 2010.

This cabbage was great fun to paint - tricky and time consuming but an interesting challenge. Once again, this subject became a tasty meal after posing for me.

Three Squash

8 x 10.5 inches, watercolor, 2009.

These are three of the squash we grew this summer. We hadn't grown squash before so we were curious to see how it turned out. Sadly it wasn't good - the fruits were very bitter and nasty to taste (and very poisonous if eaten). It's not clear why this happened but at least they looked nice enough to paint!
